Wireless Localization Network for a Ubiquitous Robotic Space: Background and Concept

This paper provides a development concept of wireless localization network, which is used for the navigation of indoor robots. Prior to presenting the concept, a brief review about the indoor localization system is provided as a preliminary background material of this research. This paper introduces three key developments in the URS localization system. They are so-called StarLITE, Navi-guider, and UMVC. StarLITE is a IR-LED sensor, Navi-guider is a tether system used for robot guidance, and UMVC is a multi-view camera. In this paper, we also present a wireless sensor network-based localization system, which uses UWB and WLAN signals for locating tags and wireless network adapters in the URS.
